Has anyone got an update regarding the use of UK blue badge in Torrevieja?
UK blue badges are not officially recognised by Torrevieja and it is up to the discretion of the local police. Even if the local police recognise it, parking for free in blue pay to park areas is not allowed for foreigners.
So it looks like you still take your chances. There is a print out in Spanish you can stick next to your Blue Badge and hope the police haven't spilt their coffee all over their shiny shoes that morning.
I have posted before about this, i have used my UK blue badge for years all over the Costa Blanca including Torrevieja without any problems. Officially since Brexit it is no longer valid but the authorities appear to be turning a blind eye to it. I have not heard of anyone having a problem using a UK blue badge, please post if you have.

Yes, same here. I always try to find a normal parking space anyway, but if not, we've used ours, no problem.
The way I see it, you'd have to be a pretty horrible person to fine/sanction a disabled person for this.

I suppose the problem for the Spanish authorities is they have no way of knowing if the UK blue badge being displayed belongs to a genuine disabled person that is entitled to display a blue badge. In the UK they estimate that about 20% of those displaying a badge are not entitled to do so (AA figures not the DM). It's good to know that they are giving the benefit of doubt to BB holder's in Spain.

But surely the same applies anywhere, Spain or UK or wherever?
You don't have to have the photo facing up, so the only way anyone could check was to wait until you come back and actually compare the photo to the face?
I suspect there are much bigger fish to fry.
But yes, I've seen lots of people who don't look remotely disabled parking up. But I guess you just can't tell by looks alone.
