Hi
We will be having our car transferred to Spanish plates in December I have been told we can't get fully comprehensive insurance as the car is over 20 years old.
I'm concerned if we had an accident and it was our fault we would get nothing back.
Is this correct or does anyone know of a company that does off fully comprehensive for vehicles over 20 years old?

I have not heard that there is a age limit for full comp. but that does not mean it's incorrect. Try calling/emailing Jennifer Cunningham Insurance or Abbeygate Insurance and ask them, they are both insurance brokers in Spain who would be able to advise you correctly.

According to Caser, cars over 15 years old are limited to fire, windscreen and own damage cover.
My Insurance Spain says once the car is over 15 years old there is a reduced number of companies who will insure it fully comprehensive but will offer 3rd party, fire and theft.
Unless the car is a classic, would it really be worth insuring it fully comprehensive anyway? It can't be registered as historic, or classic, until it is 30 years old with no modifications.
Plus, a car that old will be severely limited to where it is able to be driven once the LEZs are over their bedding in periods and the restrictions come into force fully.
