How long can I stay in Spain with my British car?
I have NIE but not resident.
6 months in any 12.
Leaving and re-entering the country does not reset the clock.

Hello Razors hope you are well.
Your British car can stay forever provided you keep it fully legal.
What Movingon says is correct, but who cares or ever checks. No Brit has ever been prosecuted or deported for overstaying.
Good luck and enjoy yourself.

Hello Ray I hope you are well.
There is no need to make such derogatory remarks, it can be quite rude. This is a friendly forum and you as a long term member should respect it’s values. Words like pillocks and morons are not acceptable.
I personally think you are wrong about how long a foreign car can remain in Spain, but that is only information I have picked up elsewhere and of course it could be inaccurate. Perhaps you could post a link to the law that states 6 months.
In the meantime have a good day and try to be more polite.

Stay as long as you like ..as long as you don't get caught [ which is unlikely , unless you drive like an idiot , drive a wreck or do something stupid ] or have an accident .
Local plod is not really bothered , as they like an easy life , they don't have to stop you check your vehicles legality , they use a hand held scanner which checks your details on an online database , if you are ok they wont bother to much , the Guardia are much the same [ unless they are having a little purge ] they are much more concerned with dangerous driving, drugs and alcohol offences , then you are in the deep brown stuff …!!!
The secret is not to draw attention to yourself , which is a trait that most brits screw up bigtime ….!!!

Hello Ray are you having a bad day.
You are still being offensive ‘’If the cap fits ...’’. You are setting a bad example to new members and should know better.
Your link only proves what I have stated.
Pensioners, second homeowners, cross-border commuters, self-employed cross-border commuters (company cars)As an EU nationals with a second home in Spain (that you use for no more than 6 months a year), you do not need to register your vehicles here.
Razors is non resident, he is a tourist.
Please try altering your tone and getting your facts straight.

Hello Ray you are a very rude person.
‘’engage your brain’’
‘’What does the bit in brackets say?’’ Nothing of relevance that I can see, perhaps you could enlighten us all.
You have got your facts wrong and just digging a bigger hole for yourself. Perhaps all your abusive comments apply to you more than me.
Have a nice day.
Now you've all got that off your chests allow me to repeat:
6 months in any 12 - which is not the same as just saying 6 months.
In my experience, the police do regular road blocks and will stop you if everything is not totally legal according to their hand held system and foreign plated cars come in for special attention. The result will be that the car will be impounded and you will be stuck at the side of the road.
