GOLDCAR WORST CAR RENTAL COMPANY

Awful car rental company took £130 off my credit card back in January for a scratch that had been documented on the original paperwork. 

As we have just bought a property in Spain my husband went back out the following month (even after sending numerous emails/calls) to try to resolve the issue with goldcars head office in Torrevieja but no one spoke any "English"! 

My husband went back to Alicante airport to try to sort it out there and was promised the money would be refunded surprise surprise no email and no refund! I wonder how many people they are doing this too? 

The reviews on their Facebook page says it all and there is even a website set up by an unhappy customer to make complaints against the Company! 

Please DO NOT recommend or use!

Other threads I've read show there is one that's worse called Dickmans.

We used Dickmans too but no where near as horrendous as goldcar

Could you not claim it back off your credit card provider if the damage was documented ?

We hired from Goldcar for a week, long wait at airport to collect, and a lot of pressure to buy the extra insurance which we didn’t. We returned the car with no damage what so ever,  no person to check car on return or when we picked it up.They sent me a email 4 days later with damages to the car and stopped 350 Euro from my credit card. Sent several emails and complained but had no evidence, we also called back to Alicante Airport to let them know how disappointed we were with the way they handled this and got paperwork and photos which were very poor. I think if you don’t take out the extra insurance you get targeted and they can claim what ever they want. Learnt not to rent from Goldcar as they are cheating a lot of people. Ok cars much better and professional.

Easy answer (i) don't use them again (ii) learn Spanish and defend yourself. I always ask myself - why are the Englsih so lazy about learning the language of the country they have decided to adopt?

I see thousands of complaints about car hire companies, why don't you (1) if you go back at a later date to complain not take a translator with you if you don't speak Spanish, (2) ask for the complaints  book, it is your right and 3 use a company that speaks English there is many around here some English owned but that is not a recommendation .

They are all bad as one another in airports I’ve had 19 years of this . I have now found a brilliant car hire company who cost less than half of the bigger companies with no fuss and you can pay cash or card with no holding deposit.

It’s a pity you don’t want to share the name of this car hire company with other members, it sounds to good to be true and you know the saying
