Hello, does anyone have details regarding the new law in Spain.

All towns with more than 50.000 people need to have areas where cars are not allowed with too high emissions.

DO we need to sell our cars and what are the limits and where is the area in Torrevieja.

Do not know much.

No, you won't have to sell your car. Where did you read our hear about this new law?

The emission requirements that come into effect in 2023 were covered to a degree on a previous thread a week or so back, look for the "Costa Cars" thread.

These low emission zones in Madrid and Barcelona have existed for some years. There is nothing about having to sell your car, but there are restrictions as to which cars may drove into the zones. The zones in most countries are only in the center of the cities.

When this comes in for sure many  owners of older cars are going to find their movements curtailed by it.

If that does present them with problems then yes, they may well be faced with selling (or scrapping) and updating.

Values of old nails will likely crater and prices for compliant cars will likely go even higher so for anyone in that position right about now might be a good time to do something about it.

The scrappies will be in for a bonanza but equally the value of the parts they salvage from older cars and sell will take a dive as the market for them shrinks.

Try the N332 website as they had a good breakdown all about it about a week or so ago.

Thank you.  I have a car that is just 6 months old with a 'C' category sticker already on the windscreen.

I wonder how this will affect hire cars. I assume it will be the rental company's responsibility to 'sticker up' their cars.

I think I should be OK as the cars I hire for my visits tend to be less than 12 months old (and not diesel)
