Hopefully some of the current restrictions will be lifted by the Summer, and we are hoping to drive to the Uk via Eurotunnel. We thought it would be nice to start some planning now ... even if our plans end up getting pushed back!

Does anyone have any helpful suggestions for a route with reasonably priced pet hotels please? We’re happy to take three or four days and have plenty of breaks, rather than push ourselves.

We appreciate that we may need to source places en route for PCR tests and dog worming treatment, to comply with the required pre-entry timescales that may still be in place by August.

Any suggestions are much appreciated.

No way to predict what will happen even within the next 20 days. I'd suggest getting familiar with the exceptions from all the covid restrictions, there are plenty. Then, keep a close eye on what's going on in France. Pet friendly hotels in Spain are very rare, in France easier to find. In any case you should book ahead or w/o arrive not later than 6.00 pm. The stretch Hendaye-Calais will cost around 180,- just for tolls and fuel. The boat from Santander to Plymouth might be more reasonable and much less stressing.

Hi I have done the journey many times with my dog and there are plenty of pet friendly hotels in France and Spain.

Also done the trip from Santander ferry port.

Booking.com have a search engine that you can put pet friendly in, then also email the hotel to confirm.

Normally a extra 10 euro per night.

Regards Tim

Thanks Killjoy. I had no idea the tolls were so expensive.

No problem. If your struggling let me know and I can give you the hotels I normally stay in and made my dog very welcome.

I normally take 3 Days from door to door and love the drive through France and Spain.

Its driving down to Dover that's the problem i.e traffic.

Tim

Hi we are coming out to Spain middle November from Uk.  First time we have driven but we are bringing our dog and hopefully going to stay for a few weeks.  Been looking at routes but would appreciate some help.  Would like to keep to the main roads and will make 3/4 stop overs on the way.  Which route is the fastest and easiest, coming across on the Euro train.  Many thanks Barry
