Hi,

I'm over in a dew weeks for a very short 2 day trip and am looking to hire a car from Alicante as usual. This time my return flight is really early & would need to drop the car off around 5am at the airport. Does anyone know of a hire company that doesn't charge out of hours drop off, maybe they just have a key drop box which is fine but don't want to be stung for 30/40 Euros surcharge which many do. Thanks in advance.

We've always used goldcar. Last time we were out our flight was early going home. Keys went into letterbox and we had a confirmation email by the time we got home stating no damage to car and nothing further to pay (as always).

Thank you. Their website does state an out of hours collection charge but no mention of the return if out of hours. Great to know something that has been tried & works. Thanks

Whatever happens avoid Gold Car like plague , I have been stung by them, 200 euro for scratches on rear bumper. When I had collected the car which was full of scratches anyway. I took lots of pictures. First I wrote to Gold car with all of the evidence but no reply. Second step was to approach credit card company, no surprise to me credit card company confirmed that they had several complains in regards to mystery charges. I was credited by the credit card company.

I go to Spain regularly and always avoid Gold car.

I've been stung by a few of them over the years and am learning each time. Its my first early morning out of hours drop off so hope to avoid extra charge by getting the correct info beforehand. Thanks for your reply

Who do you use jashanspal. Never had a problem with goldcar although you need to check car carefully and have any damage recorded before you leave which is straight forward. We've also taken excess protection insurance here in the UK just in case - it's only £40.99 year.

This might  be an option for you. https://www.sixt.co.uk/car-hire/spain/alicante/alicante-airport.. As a by the by, I nearly always use www.doyouspain.com for car hire. You get a list of companies, but I imagine you can opt for sixt and avail of keydrop.
