2nd home owners

I'm sure, in time something will be agreed. 

However, Britons with 2nd homes are not a priority for the Spanish Govt at the moment due to Covid, the economy and unemployment. 

However, it will be on the radar and hopefully by next year Spain and UK can have something in place that suits both parties. 

Wilbur, you could be right, you mentioned the economy and lets face it Spain need all the help they can get and second home owners contribute to the economy by spending in the shops, bars, restaurants etc etc, little point in turning them away or making things so difficult they sell up and go elsewhere.

Lets hope the bureaucrats have an unexpected bout of common sense in the near future.

Blame Brexit not the Spanish government, the UK agreed to these rules when they were EU members.

Maybe we should be blaming the Spanish governments for not upholding those rules prior to brexit, essentially nothing has changed other than the Spanish & the EU now wish to apply the rules which of course they are entitled to do, great shame they are willing to damage their own economies just to spite a few thousand Brits that quite possibly never even voted for brexit, hey ho, swings and roundabouts.

As you are complaining about not being able to stay for >90 days, I assume you do not have Residencia/TIE.

So, what is this wealth tax that you say you are paying ?

Hi Kevin the weath tax is non residenti tax.

Non-Resident tax (NRT) is Non-Resident tax.

Wealth tax can be levied on wealthy holders of Residencia/TIE (i.e. those liable for income tax in Spain) on worldwide assets.

If you choose to pay income tax in Spain (and perhaps Wealth Tax), you can stay as long as you want.

I agree,  Invested in our future retirements in the EU then the rug was pulled from beneath our feet. Have you seen the fb page.  British multi - country residents/owners/workers/retirees affected by Brexit.    A lot of like minded people on there. Hopeful and optimistic. 

Thank you Wilbur, it’s nice to see a positive point on here . It’s so demoralising to continually be told, You are not resident, you didn’t organise yourselves,you voted for this, etc etc.  we ,i’m assuming most didn’t vote for it, that’s the problem
