Hi, I have been trying to go online to obtain a digital certificate. I am using google on an iPad which directs me to the fmnt website and after putting in all data it doesn’t work. I have also been to an Internet cafe to use a PC so I could use internet explorer and Firefox (earlier version) which the website recommended and still it wouldn’t let me submit after entering all the required information. Any ideas?

Morning - the certificates my wife and I use were issued from our local ayuntamiento/ town hall. We had to make an appointment and received emails instantly on what to do next.

Thank you, Lancelot.

Did you go into the Ayuntamiento to make the appointment, or do it online?

The problem I have, is that the website comes back with a message saying it’s not secure when I go in via both my iPad and phone. Cheers

I rang their number and made an appointment. I'm lucky in that Algorfa town hall is small and accessible.

From memory we were able to download the certificates to my laptop and as part of the process we had to create a fairly long password for them which you record.

Once we did this and before we could use them on the residency application website we had to download the firmar or signing software.

There is a guide on it and I'll try and post the link in a minute or two.

I'm on my mobile at the moment but after checking I think I posted my own experience on the Jim's guide thread. I'm not sure they exist now so my comments on them might have been lost.

That said of you do go to the town hall after making an appointment they will issue you with links to download certificates.

You should also download the autofirma signing software from here https://firmaelectronica.gob.es/Home/Descargas.html

I downloaded the autosignature for windows. It's a shame but if I'd known Jim's threads linked to his guides were going to be deleted I might have taken more detailed screenshots 😒

Hi all,

I don't understand why people keep saying that Jim's guides have been deleted, they haven't.  Here's a link to the one about electronic certificates:

and here's a link to the full list of guides:

Kind regards,

Kim

Hi Kimmy - it's the threads which were associated with the guides which have gone. I think I posted on a few threads where Jim said "here's my guide to <<blah>>". It was courteous to do so as he had posted the guide itself.

"If anyone does get personal certificates, I'd be grateful if they'd post back in this thread regarding how they got on"

I did post back on my experiences and unless I am going mad those associated threads started by Jim have now gone haven't they?

Hi Lancelot,

OK, thanks, I understand what you're saying now 👍

I remember d80gs2 suggesting that posts made in response to Jim's guide should be removed, such that they stand alone, but he was overruled by the majority, including a diplomatic response from Jim!   I've asked Alex to advise and I'm sure he'll update us in due course.

Kind regards,

Kim

Hi Lancelot - when Jim deleted his topic on this website it automatically removes the topic page and all subsequent replies. Wasn't my choice to delete those topics I'm afraid!
