Are there any friendship groups that exist for the elderly who would appreciate friends and companionship due having lost their husbands or wives recently. It is something I am sure would be welcomed on Forums like this and give those who need someone in their lives a reason for meeting up with others feeling the same.

Do any of these groups exist? Sounds like a great idea to sort some problems out.

Not sure it’s quite what you mean but I have heard about a social group for single people called  Phoenix which met in the Mariner bar in Torreviega.  There is also Torreviega U3A which has many activity groups.

Age Conern HQ in La Siesta hold coffee mornings, knitting club, Rummikub club and other activities on their premises. They have a website and Facebook page for more info.

Wansbeck - yes like everywhere else they have been closed because of the state of alarm.  I haven't seen any news on their opening for general meetings etc and it could be, now we're so close to summer, when the close anyway during part-July and August, that they won't open till September. Think this will apply to many such organisations.  Join their FB page and you will automatically receive their news.
