You are only allowed one bag. We recently flew with them and I took a small gym sack out of the bag so I could sit quickly in my seat. I was told that I could only take one bag on, so put the sack back in mt hand carry then took it out on the plane. The flight before my wife was told her handbag needs to be in her hand carry. Although we had a flight prior to that where they were less strict, but the policy is one bag.

Officially "easyJet Hand Luggage Allowance. Each passenger is allowed only one piece of hand baggage on-board. The easyJet hand luggage size is 56 x 45 x 25 cm including the wheels and any handles. There is no weight limit on cabin baggage."

Direct from the horse’s mouth:

http://www.easyjet.com/en/help/baggage/cabin-bag-and-hold-luggage

Staff will be more ‘arsey’ on busy flights and often ask people to put their single carry-on bag in the hold.

I travel with a camera bag as my carry-on and staff take one look at it and move on to the next in line. If you are asked to put the bag in the hold and don’t wnat to then tell them that it has valuable camera/computer items in it, or has your supply of drugs for the next month. They may ask you to take these out, but just argue that they’re so bulky that you’d need a large bag to put them in - this defeating the object of the exercise.

If you are ‘forced’ to put your carry-on in the hold then don’t forget to remove your passport, luggage receipt and boarding pass first (I know someone forgot, and yes it was very messy and time consuming to sort-out).

Pete.

I usually have a 'bag within a bag' containing everything I need on the flight, plus passports, tickets etc. When asked to put my cabin bag in the hold, I just take out the small bag and I've always been allowed to take that on board.

The only disadvantage of putting you cabin luggage in the hold is having to go through baggage collection at the other end. On the other hand, it saves having to squash it into a tiny space in the overhead lockers and not being able to find your kindle in flight!

I travel with easyJet over to Spain a lot with hand luggage and in most cases have been asked to put my handbag in my case when boarding but I just take it out again when on the plane have also worn a coat and put it over it that usually works

What's the problem with Ryan Air? They allow 2 bags

Personally I have never understood EasyJet's policy on making Passengers ram their handbag's into their cabin case (obviously a rule created by a man!) because what's the 1st thing a woman needs to do when she gets onboard the plane - Yup - extracate the handbag from the case.............otherwise you have no Kindl/book/sweets for take-off!

When I last queried the function of this ludicrous rule I was told it's for speedy boarding - how can this be true when you hold up everyone getting to their seats because you need vital elements out of the case for take-off!.................as I said ludicrous!
