I had a one way flight booked for 4 November and have just had an email saying it is cancelled.  On checking the website there is nothing available until Feb 21.  This is a bit of a shock to be honest, although the way things are going here in the UK it seems as though the government is hell-bent on a total lockdown course (again).  I was planning to stay there for two or three months but that is out of the window now, unless.......

.......I then checked the Ryanair site and they still have flights going to ALC.   What on earth is going on?  I was tempted for a minute to jump in and book but then hesitated.  What if their flights go the same way in the next few days, and then Ryanair don't send me a refund for at least half a year, or more?  At least Jet2 are good at refunding fairly quickly.

It's a bad situation again, no doubt about that, and you could argue the "essential travel only" point.  We are seriously considering cutting our losses on this whole Spanish project and putting the house up for sale.  I know it could take a long time to shift it but whatever happens might be better than this ridiculous situation we are all in now.  Those of you who are there are fine - those like me who only go now and then.....well, what's the point any more?

I was checking the Jet2 website as well I was hoping to go and see my family in UK, like you say nothing till February and the way things are going there is no guarantee the flight will go ahead if I book it 😔.

If someone had told me this time last year I would be living with all these restrictions in less than 6 months I would never have believed them.

Even before this pandemic, Jet 2 always drastically reduced their flights to ALC and totally stopped all flights to Murcia between Nov and Feb. The profit wasn’t there, so they didn’t concentrate on these routes. Ryan air still continued, personally I don’t think Ryan air are going to stop, maybe reduced and you will have to be selective, but they will still be flying. Not that I like Ryan air, but I’m Reasonably sure there will be sufficient flights. I will be using them as necessary between now and Feb 2021, and think you should chance it, but up to you and your personal circumstances. Get over and enjoy!

Hi Michael

I flew to Alicante on Saturday, from EMA, with Ryanair. My husband is not a lover of the airline, however, I have never had a problem with them. They do what it says in the tin; cheap, and I’ve never ever been delayed or late

The flight was fine, everyone wore their masks and complied with requirements.

Personally, having just listened to the latest from the U.K. government, I’m just so glad we’re here! That’s even though the car battery is flat so until tomorrow we’re stuck, the combi’s not working and we’ve no water to half the house! But, the sun is shining!!! 🤪🥂

Hello

Good timing Ange, couldn't have left the UK at a better time.....tomorrow you will be mobile again, your combi will soon be fixed & water will flow everywhere you want it while in the UK people will be beginning to get  used to even  more restrictions ( & its very doubtful the sun will shine)  we have much to be thankful for....

Cheers

Although i am no lover of Ryanair we have little choice where we live, its them or travel to another airport, get yourself booked and enjoy the sun before its to late.

Reading yours, and those above, makes me think to hell with it and just go.  The plan was to go for maybe the full 90 days which would take me into January.  I’m not a fan of Ryanair because I don’t find their seats comfortable but for such a short flight it’s no big deal.

I think I’m going to take the chance and book.  It’s only £40 or so one way🤔

Done it!  Ryanair from LBA 30 October.  Nice day time flight means I can get there before the cockroaches wake up😡.

Last two trips has seen a small infestation which is very annoying.  Somebody recommended a good spray (from Mercadona was it?).  I can pop down there on my bike and get it and then give all the under furniture places a good blast.

On the other hand of course there may not be any this time.  Hate them with a vengeance ☠️☠️
