I wonder what the chances are of this flight actually taking off? Like many others I am very keen to visit my property again but, of course, I am concerned that even though Jet 2 are taking my money and booking me on a flight that it may be too soon.

I suppose you have to take a risk that it will all be much better by then and, even if it is not, the worst that will happen is that they will offer me a later flight.

Just wondering if anyone has taken the plunge and gone for an early July flight?

Yep, just booked some for 11th July. A house I'm interested in buying has just had a massive price drop, so I need to get over asap to view it before making an offer. The 11th was the earliest I could get. I'm hearing noises about Spain perhaps not letting people from UK without quarantine, not sure how accurate said noises are! We're flying in from Dublin, so might not get caught up in any restrictions, if they do eventually exist.

Hi Michael,

This link refers to 1 July date for Spain opening its borders:

https://www.telegraph.co.uk/travel/news/hope-for-a-summer-holiday-in-spain-slashed/

However, if we (Spain) have an increase in the infection rate, that could well change.  Even then, Spain's Tourism Minister, Maria Reyes Maroto, has said they will only open borders to visitors from countries where Covid-19 is under control which, at the moment, means Germany and the Nordic countries.  She said the UK's infection rate "still had to improve" before Britons will be allowed to visit.

Kind regards,

Kim

The plot seems to change daily, as regards what you can or can't do.  If I have to quote my La Siesta address at the airport as a place of quarantine then so be it.  It won't bother me to keep myself to myself for two weeks.  The house is big enough to be getting on with things and the roof terrace has a 360 degree view to enjoy.  I will happily spend my days reading and enjoying the sun, safe in the knowledge that my property is ok.  I will catch up on my DVDs and Netflix box sets in the evenings, as well as watching whatever football broadcasts I can find as the season is resurrected and heads to its conclusion.

And then, when I'm ready, I will book my return flight.

Yes, Kim, I am keeping up to date with the news!  As I said in my other post, things seem to change on a daily basis.  If July 6th comes and they say I cannot go then it doesn't matter.  I will simply move my booking to a later date.

It's all going to end at some point, as we all know.

I agree Michael and I think others share your pragmatic view.  I was just making the point that, even if the airlines would like to fly from the UK to Spain, it's the Spanish government's decision to make, not the airlines.  Inevitably, some people will get caught up in the excitement of a headline, e.g. "Spain opening its border from 1 July", but then won't read the exceptions, so I just wanted to make the distinction for people who can't afford, or don't want their money to be tied up in a voucher-versus-refund argument with their airline.

Kind regards,

Kim

Yes, and the Spanish government are no more adept at making binding decisions than the British government is.  Nothing changes there!  I will just wait and see.  I have only booked a one way ticket, keeping my return date flexible, and there is no financial problem for me in doing that.  I would hope to be able to fly sometime soon, but if not "c'est la vie" (as we say in Barnsley)

If we have to quarantine we can do it about ten doors away from the house we're looking at. Wonder if we'd be able to class viewing the property as "going for a walk"? ;-)

If we can't get there we can just change the booking. Hopefully we woin't have to though.

How can going for a walk be classed as a viewing??this is the danger of letting  tourist in to soon they dont worry., The Spanish  Goverment is correct even though  it costs their economy to keep some country's  waiting.
