Any 1st hand( pardon the pun) experiences of the new system?
I doubt it has Spain has already said it will only happen with one flight arriving at Madrid airport today. Other airports will gradually phase it in over six months with Alicante saying they will be "advising" incoming passengers of the new rules by notice boards and it may affect between one and three flights in the coming week. Palma de Mallorca has the machines in place but the Mallorca Daily says they are not being used at all as yet.
It will not apply to all non EU flights until April next year if it proves successful without causing any delays.
A family opposite arrived this morning and there were no holdups or checks at Alicante from Luton.
As is par for the course, UK usual suspect press winding up its readership without explaining the rules a non Brit has to abide to enter the UK such as the UK ETA, proof of means, proof of accommodation, proof of return flights etc.

Sorry if this has already been covered, but what is the situation for a British passport holding Spanish resident with a TIE? Will we be subject to same conditions as a Spanish national when entering Spain? What will they be?

Yes it has been covered. No you will not need this system if you hold a TIE as that is the biometric identity and residency card. As a Spanish resident with a UK passport (or Irish one) you win both ways. No EES or ETIAS to enter Spain and no UK ETA to enter UK.
If you hold the old green EU registration card that will not be accepted as it does not have biometric data.
This information has been published many times by the Spanish authorities.

A sure them rules only apply to some non brits arriving and not to certain others.

To clarify, the TIE card needs to be presented with your passport.
I'd be surprised if any airport actually started doing it today, that one Madrid flight apart, with it being National Spain day.
I have to go home on Thursday and will report if I see it running at Alicante, but knowing the laid back Spaniards, I don't think there will be any big rush , with them getting 6 months to get it fully up and running.

You don't need to supply any of this if you arrive in the U.K. by small boat. Everything provided including 5* accommodation. No need for return ticket as they will provide free flight and pay you to leave as well.

You forgot to mention the train ticket to Carinryan the boat ticket to Belfast the train ticket to Dublin and the taxi to the IPAS centre for all the freebies plus absolutely and utterly no chance of you being deported

Flew back from Alacante last night (Tuesday evening) and still not switched on so still manually stamping passports at Alacante, we got there early after reading British press spreading panic and lies as usual.
