Car hire will be peanuts , take out excess car hire insurance in England ,about 3 euros a day then your protected for the block in credit card, simples.

I tried that last time (in January) and the car hire insisted that I would not be fully covered if I didn't take out their insurance.  I was reluctant to accept their version of things but, in the end, paid up.  They put so much pressure on you and the fear of being charged for something that you haven't done (a minor scratch for example) almost makes you cave in.  I know I did, and I was cross with myself for doing so.

The irony was that I lost the thirty odd pounds premium paid to the UK company because they wouldn't refund it retrospectively (not surprisingly).  I suppose I could have tried to speak to them at the car hire desk but that's difficult with an ever-growing queue behind you.  In the end the insurance paid for a ten day hire was astronomical when the two amounts were added together.

I would be fine with that. I’ve never had any trouble going from Torrevieja to the airport - just that one time in the other direction. It’s not a very busy time either. It takes about 50 minutes so it looks ok.

My husband books it for me on line , but it’s pretty easy, I think it’s 48 hours notice they need.

I've never understood why there's not an Alicante/Torrevieja transfer bus at 15.00 (I think there used to be) - this would relieve the bun fight at 16.00 - I have queued twice for the 16.00 bus  - only to be pushed out of the way by Locals .......who seem to think they have the right to board this bus before you!  I've been stood talking to a tourist who had been offloaded from the 14.00 bus because it was full and no seats left - only for her to be pushed to the ground and not manage to get a seat on the 16.00 bus..............Frail old people and young children all get pushed out of the way!

I've sworn never again to use this service but something needs to be done - a barrier perhaps to enable people to queue and not let Spanish bullies push others out of the way?

No the first time that I have heard such a story, sadly.  For the time being I'm sticking with Goldcar who are at least efficient as they rob you for extortionate insurance premiums.

The buses too and from the airport are always on time out of season. We used the all the time when living in Torry.
