Hello, I hope someone can help.

What body is responsible for the months when local community swimming pools can be open - is it the owners via the President or is it the local Ayuntamiento??

I recently discovered to my dismay that my community pool is only open from June 15th to September 15th.  I was at my apartment recently in October with temperatures in the mid-high 20's and there was this lovely pool, with water in it, yet no one was using it and were prohibited from using it - despite everyone paying for it each quarter.  I mentioned it to my Spanish neighbour who just shrugged and said "go to the beach".  I took his advice and enjoyed it, but still, I'd have preferred to use the pool that I'm paying for all year but can only use it for three months.  It's nuts!

Regards,

Nessy

Each community make the rules for the opening hours of the pool, so I would suggest you have a word with your president to see why the pool is only open for a short period.

In fairness outdoor pools cool down quite quickly from September onwards and I wouldn’t expect to see anyone use our pool now until at least after Easter unless clad in a wet suit.So although our pool is open all year, it’s only used for a maximum of 5 months.

The sea retains the temperature better than outdoor pools.

Hello.

Not always the case, In my Urb  it has  been  discussed at the AGM & voted on by the home owners including the president. Considering our president has not been here from Sweden for 2years, he wouldnt have a clue when the pool is in use.

Cheers

Thank you both.

I'm quite pleased that the issue can be dealt with by the community rather than the town hall.  Because for the life of me, I can't understand why my neighbours should be any happier at paying for a pool all year long when they or I can only use it for a quarter of the time.  Subject to any additional costs (and I don't think there would be any), I see no reason why it can't be in use from May to November.  If it's too cold people won't use it anyway.  I don't see any downside so next time there is an AGM I'll raise the issue.

Regards,

Nessy

Yes, I actually know a President from Campo Sol who, on becoming President, changed the community rules to expand the availability to all-year.  She intends on buying a wet suit so that she can swim for exercise all year round.

I had thought that in Torrevieja it may have been the Ayumiento that decided just because I noticed none of the communal pools were being used in my area despite the temperatures being very warm.

Thanks for your reply.

My husband is the president of our urbanisation.

The president has a lot of responsibility, and a lot of say in major decisions, but it comes with many disadvantages.

After 2 years we have had enough, more than enough.

Hopefully in January we can end it.

Yes,no one in our urb uses the pool from now to around April next year.

No use keep paying for Covid cleaning when it isn't necessary.

Whatever the home owners vote,it is the president who says yes or no at the end of the day.

My husband is the president.

We are hoping to give up in January.

Hello

It seems your presidential   powers  are more in use  than here. If big  finances are involved ( we recently had some new lights in one part of the Urb) then the president had to ok this work but generally, decisions are very much communal. We have 2 vice presidents Norwegian & Spanish who also take action on things that need doing---- whenever they are here, its quite relaxed and works fine....Administrators are also helpful and available for advice etc

Cheers
