Are you moving permanently? Are you EU/EEA Passport holders? If not, you will need to apply for visa at your nearest Spanish Consulate before you make plans.
Just a word of caution, don’t believe all you see on the tv shows there is a lot of info not given as to what you can and cannot do with properties in Spain also they are not a good investment option.

Hi we are an english couple I'm retired and my wife will retire next year. We have lived in Belgium for 35 years. Both of our ID cards are "M" as the result of which classifies us as "perminant EU residents". The question is can we take up residence and live in Spain without visa axetera as we are perminant residence of another EU country.

Thanks we understand its not a good investment as we are not looking to make money on it.We would only be letting friends and family use the apartment. And not expecting a large return when we sell in the future. We are selling a apartment in the Algarve Portugal 🇵🇹 and that was a good a very good investment 👍 just looking forward to a new adventure 😀 But any advice you can give will be much appreciated Regards Paul and Sue Ranton 😀

Hi,
To live in Spain permanently as an EU passport holder you must sign on the foreigners register within 90 days of arrival at the local National police station.
Here is an official link that will explain everything:

AFAIK It depends on your passport rather than your ID card.
Someone who had French residency posted a similar question about changing their residency and the general concensus was that they would have to apply from the UK. Could you apply for Belgium passports before relocating?
