Unfortunately not, using the Iberdrola app I can see that there is no power consumption, therefore the smart meter has not reset after power was restored. I requested Iberdrola to remotely reset the smart meter, which they can do. (It is located in a communal cabinet elsewhere, and there is no ph...

Have you tried downloading the I-DE app. From what I can see, it allows you to reset your meter remotely.

Hi shayden, very helpful and thanks for making the effort, appreciated.  Do you know if it’s available in English.

I’ve just looked at the app on my phone and it is only in Spanish.

if you can get signed in, then the key sections are “Acceso al Contador” and “Reconectar ICP”

Hi

Definitely leave doors open, including leaving a bit open on wardrobes if clothes are left stored.

Before living here full time when leaving the house locked up we also moved beds away from walls slightly and left chest of drawers open too.

Windows were also left open with some air holes left in the persiana blinds.

All of these measures help combat mould should there be moisture in the air.

Regards

Sharon

Great advice and I would add a few trays of dehumidifying crystals.

We leave all the doors open and also leave some cat litter in a tray in each room (cheaper than dehumidifying crystals,no smell  and we used washed trays that meat/ bakery items come in).

We also try and move furniture slightly away from corners of rooms to allow air to fully circulate

Some people also leave bed clothes folded back but we’ve never had an issue with bedding being damp upon return

We also leave a coin on the top of an ice cube in the freezer -if coin is underneath when you return then you know electric has been off and restored at some point

These are some of the tips we picked up on this and other websites

Hope this helps

Deirdre

I returned for the first time this August (2021) since March 2019.

I had left my doors open but still got mould on things.  It seemed to be mostly on wooden table and leather shoes and anything that had been polished in some way.  so maybe put your shoes in shoe bags and store inside boxes.  Can't do much about table tops though.  Surprising how the dust manages to get in even with the shutters down and windows closed!!!

We returned after two years and never had any mould problems , I leave a window in the bathroom slightly open behind the shutters, though the other rooms have the doors closed, never had any issues other than very minor bit of dust to wipe.

Someone mentioned about power going off, I always turn my water and electric off at the fuse box when I leave anyway.

Hi my husband and I bought our first property 20 years ago, went back to Scotland and left some loafers in wardrobe and closed up as you do. Came back 4 weeks later and the shoes were mouldy could have bed. Damp, but ever since I have still to this day left my wardrobe and bedroom doors slightly open and if I’m not coming back for a long period I put a little container half filled with salt which absorbed any moisture. Salt goes hard when absorbed and then I replace it. Has worked for me 20 years abs still doing it
