Hi
A couple of years ago we used simply doors to replace one window with uPVC patio doors. This involved knocking out the brickwork under the window to create space for the doors. They did an excellent job. However this did not include shutters.
Sometime last year we enquired about mallorquino shutters, but they didn't do them.
We then bumped into a Spanish tradesman who has replaced a lot of our neighbours windows and shutters. He then installed aluminium windows/shutter x3 for us, and did an excellent job. This involved the complete removal of the old rotten wooden window frames as well, so there is now no wood involved, and they are a perfect match to the old ones but with modern 3 point locking and tilt-and-turn double glazed windows, plus mosquito nets. See attached photo. The louvres in the shutters can be fully opened or fully closed and all points in between - perfect blackout if desired.
BTW- the shutters can be supplied alone but they are the most expensive bit!
I've since come to realise that the Spanish use aluminium whereas the Brits use uPVC.
There are lots of aluminium carpenters around, not so many uPVC.
Cheers
Steve
