Thank you. I am a resident in Norway and will soon have a Norwegian passport as well as my British one. ( Brexit has forced me to do this ). Once I have my Norwegian passport I will hopefully avoid this 180 days a year nonsense. However it is my friend  who is English and living in England t...

...hat I am asking about the 90 day stay for. If I am to understand correctly then after staying 90 days he has to be back in England for 90 days before he can return for the next 90 days ?

I use the Schengen  visa calculator for flights for my son.    It is very easy to work and the 90 days are rolling so it is calculated from last visit.  It says when you must leave and how many days you have left at the end which changes depending where you are on calendar.    I have 4 flights booked until Jan 2022.

Can someone please explain how the 90 days works. Can you for example stay the 90 days back to back giving a total of 180 in one go. Or do you have to leave the country after 90 days. How long between each visit do you have to be out of the country etc.

My understanding is that you can spend no more than 90 days in any 6 month period. You don't however, have to spend 90 consecutive days in Spain though, and although impractical you could spend alternative months in Spain over a 6 month period, but you can't return for 90 days thereafter.

I used to spend 6 consecutive months in Spain , via long term lets and it will be interesting to see how being limited to 3 month lets, impacts on the availability and cost of rental properties? Hopefully not too much?

Hi and thanks for this info. You have raised a good point here re. long term lets and prices for 3 month periods instead of 6.

I intend to rent for a few months from autum  onwards, covid permitting. If you have any good and reputable contacts the any info.would be appreciated.

We have been trying to organise a 3 month rental for a while now and are getting nowhere. Anything we get offered is usually for a minimum of 6-12 months. A few agents have said that they are attempting to put together a list for 90 day rentals but so far no one has got back to me.

only alternative would seem to be airb& b.

Another alternative could be to contact owners advertising holiday lets directly and enquire about long term bookings out of season. We used to book 3 month periods between October & May and negotiated some very good rates, which included all bills.
