Take a look at La Mata. Stunning beach, beautiful boardwalks, restaurants, excellent bus service to a Torrevieja, one coastal/scenic route and the other via Aveneda de Paris directly into town. It is all on the level so suits every age group. There are lots of lively house in the area. We are in the TORREBLANCA area, 12 mins walking to the beach. You could take a bus but with all the dining out, the walk seems wiser. We have some excellent eateries within walking distance or a bus or taxi to Los Licas which also has some wonderful restaurants looking across the sea. Don’t miss the opportunity to check out the area. It isn’t an expat community, we have so many lovely Swedish and Norwegian people who spend their winters in the area which means that all the restaurants are kept busy and alive right through the year.
The neighbours beside us are Swedish, the 3 brothers and father bought the house between them and the house is rarely unoccupied, they even bought a new car for their use. In Spain, you insure the car, not the driver which means that pretty well anyone may drive it with the permission of the car owner ( you must have written petmis#ion in the car incase the police stop you). It’s a great set up, all of our family including our son’s girl friend drives our car...we hired for years and finally wised up and bought a new car. Secondhand cars are far too pricey.
Make sure you live the property you buy or you will kick yourself afterwards. I don’t think Many people sell and move elsewhere because the cost of buying and selling is far too costly and people seem to think that they should offer a ridiculous price for your place instead of understanding that the price shown is in or around what the seller needs. No mad profit to be made when reselling. Maybe 20 years ago but certainly not now.
If you feel that a house is beyond your limit, there are some very nice properties which you could choose the downstairs with garden or the upstairs with a terrace and sometimes a garden too.
Our house has an integrated garage which we turned into a dormitory with 4 beds in it. When we bought nearly 20 years ago, our children were all at university and loved to bring a crowd of friends out to stay. Now, most of them are married and the room is now used for Dad and Mum and 2 kids. We were able to install a lovely big shower room across the hall in a void ( a shell under part of the kitchen) which makes it very private.
Think how many family members you expect to visit and make sure to get at least 2 bathrooms.
Good hunting.
Ps. If you view a house with an under build, check the walls for dampness as many have been flooded.
