Bars and restaurants
What is the latest with bars and restaurants opening in Torrevieja?
I am due to come over in the next few weeks and just wondered whether I'd be able to have a pint or two and a meal out.
Thanks
Stephen

A cautionary note, I went into a Spanish restaurant a few days ago for lunch. An enormous sigh outside the premises read meal of the day 12€. I had my meal got the bill which I didn’t check at the time and left. The following day I checked my bill and it read special menu 26€. I returned to the restaurant and confronted the owner who could not explain the cost, did not offer to refund the overcharge and his command of English suddenly dropped. On speaking to other people about this, I have been informed this restaurant owner has overcharged a number of other patrons, not withstanding the owner of a bar/restaurant next to his.
In conclusion, some restaurant owners appear to be making up prices above their advertised cost to make up for loss of earnings during lockdown. I say this because I went into a different restaurant, ordered a pint of Stella Artois which before lockdown was 3.5€ now its 5€. If in doubt ask and check your bill BEFORE leaving any restaurant.

For me that's totally short term thinking for owners to carry on like that. I fully understand they have suffered but we all have in some shape or form.
Can't you report them in some manner?

You’ll also find most now will not hand you a menu! They have those Q reader barcodes on the tables and you use that ..if you can get a good enough internet signal.( bugbear of mine here in Santa Pola ...phone signals are rubbish)

Bars and restaurants are open but not as we know it, social distancing, restricted capacity, masks unless you are eating or drinking, no going to the bar as only table service. Also, I can't say about Torrevieja but in Cabo Roig there are at least two bars and two restaurants that have closed permanently. Only been out a couple of times during the day but still avoiding night-time outings as it seems, from walking past while dog walking, that once the drink kicks in all common sense disappears.

Agreed Ray, I should have included that about booking.
