The Ayuntamiento hasn't issued the contract yet. It is supposed to be announced on 15th June was the last we heard. The contract will then be issued to the successful bidder for 3 years . They are supposed to run from 15th March to October. There are no lifeguards either. I saw where a 70yr old Spanish man drowned on Saturday on Playa de los Naufragos.

There were life guards on the beach recently and the flag was flying too indicating that it was safe to swim.
I’ve never come across such a pathetic way of dealing with the beach bars and sunbeds. I remember when the sunbeds were run by the town hall itself. ( I may be wrong but that’s my memory). Blondy’s are finally back up and running as usual Pura Vida. Strangely Mi Churengueta has been up and running since Easter ( is it owned by Molino Blanco?)

Thanks for the update R. The Lifeguards commenced duty on Saturday last but nothing on the www.torrevieja.es Ayuntamiento site yet for the contract being awarded for the sunbeds, umbrellas and pedaloes etc. The following site gives the progress of the contract.

The Mayor gave a big presentation of the town's Strategic plan for sustainable tourism 2025-2029. A bit of a laugh really when they can't get their act together to facilitate a few sunbeds and umbrellas for hire on the beaches. Having said that I am very sustainable because I bring my own :)

Sounds like they are using the same process as Orihuela Costa.................................

La Zenia beaches had similar issues in 2023/24.
