Wendy99, the IBI (in Alicante Province it is collected by the SUMA agency on behalf of the local town hall) is different in every town.   The community charge is set at each AGM of the owners of each property and is dependent upon the size of each property - usually worked out as a percentage of the whole building.

Hi Carl, we have a 2 bed holiday apartment in central Torrevieja, like yourself we use it about 12 weeks a year. Our insurance is €175 pa so what you have been quoted is way off the mark, shop around. Our annual costs are about €1400 pa. Good luck and enjoy.

Hi ,we have recently aquired our 2 bedroom holiday appartment in playa flemenca.we are Irish we appointed a power of attorney to do all the work. This included setting u direct debits ,paying for the appartment, getting our tax number and connecting our water and electricity. At the end of it all which took 4 months approximately we just arrived got the keys and moved in.The only time we traveled was for viewings and make the final decision.I must say we were a bit surprised at how easy it all was. Not what we expected. We also know that this is not the experience some people have.So maybe we were lucky .Enjoy your new home.John.

Insurance for our 2 bedroom apartment in La Mata is just under £120 including the admin fee through My Insurance -www.myinsurancequotes.co.uk. It's a UK based company specialising in holiday home insurance. Also I'd doubt if your monthly electric bill without usage would be as low as 15 euros a month. You have to pay a meter hire charge, tax and VAT so more like 25 euros a month. Water maybe less for standing charge.

Didn’t realise the electric was that expensive for a standard charge . That’s 300 euros a year without any electric getting used !
