Didn’t realise the electric was that expensive for a standard charge . That’s 300 euros a year without any electric getting used !

it also depends on the wattage you are on im   on  5kw i think thats the middle one i think it is 3/ 5/ 10 kw  but check . depending on what appliances you use at the same time as if you were on the lower one your box would keep tripping

Yes it's expensive and your solicitor will probably sign you up with Iberdrola who put you on a higher tariff straight away. We moved to Energy Nordic and it's cheaper or try the night tariff with Iberdrola. We turn our electric off when we're not there but bills still about 25 to 28 euros and water about 36 euros per quarter. You just have to accept it as it's Spain not UK. We love it over there regardless, good luck.

Yes Bank charge of 35 euros per quarter for nothing in our case. We have direct debits set up and always money in the account. It's a rip off.

It's not a rip-off, it's a different Country.

I know it's Spain and different to the UK but when our bank account was being set up, we were told there were no charges which isn't true. We do just accept it but when you have a reasonable amount of money sitting in an account with little activity, you don't expect a charge.

Just looking at bank accounts and seen the “ Basic Payment Account” with the sabadell bank,

Says it’s 36 euros per annum for the account which is cheaper than others at 35 euros per quarter, anybody got this account ?

CarlID, I tried earlier this year with Sabadell(after 10yrs of non resident charges) however as this was set up for "low income residents we were told we either needed our pensions paid in every month and they wanted to see our tax confirmation of low income. Also if minimum 700€ deposited every month in an expansion account that would get us a fee free acount. We couldnt supply tax figures as non residents, didnt want to deposit 700€ mnth, as need it to live on in Uk and that seemed a pain with fees to transfer back to uk using transfer Co., so in the end after several months of investigating virtually every Spanish bank account for non resident accounts, all of which required either regular large deposits(over 600€mnth) or taking out their insurances, often overpriced, using the bank card every month (even when not in Spain?) we ended up with an account called "wefferrent"? with Cajamar bank. We use it online, no fees unless we go into branch to perform a 1to1 transaction which is only 5€ that month. All our direct debits were set up by them, no fees. The only downside is the app has no english version(but with basic spanish is easily understandable) and they dont have guaranteed english speakers in Branch. We used google translate and got by without any problem. Every time there is a transaction an email is sent to our app,s mailbox, this is actually reassuring and keeps us informed to its security and no nasty surprises. Sabadell rely on their importance of offerring a good english presence(we speak your language!) which is good for a short term but realising we have paid nearly 2000€ in charges over 10yrs was the push we needed to change banks. If your intention is to become a resident soon or you can afford to deposit 700€per month without having to pay a fee to transfer it back to Uk then stick with Sabadell.

Regards

Pauline.
