Hi Steve

Thanks for your advice - very helpful . I will definitely be using bleach regularly, if it all helps in the prevention,  and Oro has been suggested but could only find Raid at the moment.  Will keep an eye out

Regards

Annie

When I was married we once stayed in a pretty expensive hotel in Morocco. It was an old building but very beautiful.

I was first to shower and noticed a cockroach trying to get through the waste pipe. Once dried off I went over reception to see what could be done about it. After receiving assurances and nodding heads I returned to our room to find my wife screaming blue murder in the bathroom.

Oops.

Good morning Steve

My neighbours are Moroccan and they are very accepting of the little darlings and have a very laid back approach to them , its a way of life to them.  Wish I could adopt the same approach and learn to live with them

Live with them if they like: [The cockroach may be a reservoir for a range of bacteria including salmonella, staphylococcus and streptococcus. The cockroach can also harbour viruses such as the polio virus.]

I´d rather live with the bleach (etc). & just live with the song:

La cucaracha, la cucaracha,
ya no puede caminar
porque no tiene,
porque le falta
las dos patitas de atrás.

Dicen que la cucaracha
Es un animal pequeño
Y cuando entra en una casa
Se tiene que quedar dueño.

Hi again Steve

I would rather not live with them at all.  Someone on here said learn to live with them,  they are harmless and obviously they carry the potential to cause severe illness with the pathogens they carry.  Also known to exacerbate asthma which I have.  I am definitely going to try the bleach idea. I have been putting disinfectant down drains sinks etc regularly

Thanks

Annie

So, do pest repellers really work?

["NO! Ultrasonic pest repellers are a hoax and have fooled many unsuspecting consumers. While they seem like a nice family- and pet-safe solution to traditional pest control methods, they are a scam; which is a bummer because the idea of them sounds great."]

["Do electronic roach repellents really work?"]

In summary, ultrasonic pest repellers emit high-frequency sounds that manufacturers claim reduce household pest infestation, but laboratory tests have shown that the majority of such devices do not work as advertised, in violation of FTC guidelines.

My answer YES! I have no white Rhinos, Elephants or stampeding Wildebeest in my vicinity. They work.....?

Now....That´s the end of the gnus & now, for the weather........

Hello Annie20, It sounds like you are doing all the correct things but your actions appear to be from floor level upwards ; this is possibly not enough. I know of one property where the cockroaches drop in from the roof through any small gap or hole. I am told that they could enter through the toilet  - so when the owner was going out of the home he placed a heavy mat or piece of carpet over the toilet bowl to stop them until he returned. At night it may be worthwhile looking with a torch to see any possible entry gap. In Guardamar the local authority lift the street manholes & spray with a fumicide, then spray a colour dot on the cover to indicate that it has been done. I hope that this helps. Peter132

Good afternoon,

Please can I ask if anyone else in the Torreta 3 area is having issues with cockroaches ? For 3 weeks now keep seeing live and dead ones even though have traps , sprays and have sealed all possible entry points . I clean my floors with DESIC  which is a repellant . Also have mosquiteras on a...

...ll windows / doors . Rubbish taken daily and sinks and showers wiped dry and there are no leaks for a water supply for them . Opening on bidet sealed and a plug firmly in situ  Is the warm weather attracting them ? When will this pass as becoming a bit uneasy about it all

Thanks

Annie

I'm Torreta 3 and have no cockroaches or insect concerns.
