Death of Irish man in Calle Escorpiones Orihuela Costa

Sad news for some family as an Irish couple were found dead in Calle Escorpiones in Orihuela Costa. It is believed the couple died from natural causes. Neighbours alerted the emergency services when the couple hadn't been seen for some days. The man is believed to have sustained a fall and the woman it says due to limited capabilities was unable to call for help. The sad part is the woman was still showing signs of life when the emergency services arrived but died shortly afterwards. The door of the property was open but robbery is also not suspected.

According to an update it was incorrectly reported that the woman had died. She is now in a critical condition in hospital. The dead man in his 50s was her carer. He is believed to have been dead for a week after sustaining a head injury in a fall.

This reminds me of the sad story of "Gene Hackman and wife who both died of natural causes, but several days apart" They weren't discovered until several days later. It goes to show how terribly easy it is to happen to couples who are not visited often.

Thanks Bee, More sad news. Dreadful to hear of a young man dying after a fall. It must have been a frightening experience for the incapacitated woman who probably heard the young man fall but couldn’t reach him. It’s unfortunate that she didn’t have access to a ‘phone but it’s possible that she wouldn’t have been able to use it anyway. Disturbing to hear this.
