I think you should be allowed to travel from home as a couple, but just one person go into the shop. Not to be though.

Why? I really don’t understand what’s wrong with a list and how one person remaining in the car helps with supermarket shopping; after all, one can hardly be running in and out to check if X is the correct product?

Hi

Can you take photos on your phone. Save them under "shopping" then your hubby can refer to it when in supermarket.

We have 'pensioners' mobiles unfortunately,no function for photos.  Hopefully just another 3 weeks LD,then we can eat again 'normally' Thanks for the advice.

So in that case, what is the point of two people going?

I don't drive.

Oh dear. My original query was just a simple one,to which I got some friendly, and helpful replies.  Everyone can do without 'nasty' replies, and being called stupid. Goodness me,what is that all about?

Hi Robbie73, It might help. The emergency services & in particular the police etc, have certain discretionary powers regarding "two in a car". Some are included in the exceptions, other´s not.

It has been explained by them, that many or every vehicle (containing more than one) make it difficult to verify more vehicles on the street, in order to ascertain the passengers are potentially spreading an unnecessary infected person (which, after all, this is all about). They would be better concentrating those included in the "exceptions", than "chasing" the "chancers"

Unfortunately, Robbie, there is an element on here who can't help themselves.  Calling someone stupid is all they can think of.  Rules are made for a reason, I get that, but not all rules are sensible.  They may have been made by council officials who are no more qualified to make "the rules" than you or I.

I'm in England, as I said above, and the stupidity of some elected officials (local and national) is well known but let's all just accept what they say without argument, for fear of upsetting those who police forums like this.

Well that of course would probably count as exceptional circumstances; suggest that you draft an explanatory note if you don’t speak Spanish; have it translated and type it up to carry in the car. If you don’t know anyone to translate it, I am sure a fluent Spanish speaker such as RayD would help you.

So, according to you, all council and government officials are ok then.  Is that right?  Just like here in the UK, they all know exactly what they are doing, all the time?  Hmm, ok - so sorry if I offended you!

I'm not being disparaging about anyone, even if you say that I am.  Please, PLEASE do forgive me for butting in to this conversation, as you say.  Look at my user name.  I have a property in Spain.  I'm not a holiday let landlord - it's MY house for the use of me and my immediate family.  I spend at least half of my time there, and half here in sunny Yorkshire.  Therefore I would say I have an interest in what goes on over there, just as much as here.

That's not to say I will break any laws to suit my own ends - far from it.  I just question - just one more time then I will never mention it again - the logic of the police saying a person cannot drive his/her partner somewhere like the local supermarket because it flouts the "one in a car rule".  I presume such heinous law breaking also applies to the home as well. In other words sleep in separate rooms and do not UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES come within 2 metres of your lifelong partner in your own home.
