Hi all, we are due to return or the U.K. by car next Thursday from Torrevieja to Calais.

Are we likely to have any problems with boarders closed. T.I.A.

Hi Danny,

You're allowed to transit through restricted areas if you're returning to your habitual residence, but make sure that you have your ferry tickets close to hand, as you will almost certainly need to prove onward travel when crossing from Spain to France and if you're stopped by the police in either country en route.

EDIT:  Just after I posted my response, I received an alert to this info posted on the Gov.UK website which confirms what I have advised:

https://www.gov.uk/foreign-travel-advice/spain/coronavirus-

"Transiting confined areas is permitted; however, you should be prepared to show evidence of your onward journey such as train or flight tickets to your final destination."

Kind regards,

Kim

Hello Danny

You will need an attestation when crossing France, stating your reasons for being out.  This is definitely during their curfew hours, not sure about daytime, but fines are heavy for non compliance. I suggest you check foreign office advice for France in addition to that for Spain

Bon voyage

Good point, Elizabeth.

Danny, I'd recommend reading the UK Gov's Travel in France webpage:

https://www.gov.uk/foreign-travel-advice/france

and in case you haven't done it yet, you also need to complete passenger locator forms for re-entry to the UK too:

https://www.gov.uk/provide-journey-contact-details-before-travel-uk

Kind regards,

Kim
