My car has been serviced and will be brought back to me in Torreta Florida. How can my mechanic get back to Montesinos, as I cannot take him. Any day next week would be good for it to happen.. No idea what to do about this.......or a lift for me to Montesinos is also an idea, then I could pick my own car up. Any ideas that would be easy would be appreciated. Thanks.

Hi Wansbeck,

Not sure if this complies with the current restrictions on travel, but as it is a work related journey for the Mechanic would it not be worth asking him/her if it is possible,, and within the Law, for him/ her to have another Mechanic follow in another vehicle in which they could both travel back to the Garzge after dropping off your car.

There may well be a slight extra cost to you but at least you would have your car back .

Not sure , but just a suggestion.

Thanks....that is exactly what the routine has been over the past years, but 2 in a car now is not allowed.....except in taxis, but some wont do it!

Not sure how this is going to be dealt with, but nothing we can do at the moment.

Thanks for your response anyway!

Don't you think this is a bit stupid. I can't travel in a car with my wife. We both live in the same house, but I can travel in a taxi with a stranger. The car will have had other passengers too. Which would be safer !

It''s more to do with policing the situation. One person in the back seat of a taxi, ok, but two people in a private car needs further investigation which takes up police time needlessly when they have better things to do.

I still don't understand. A middle or old age couple (man and wife) in a car needs investigating ? 2 youths in a car possibly. I would have thought under the current situation that the possibility of passing on the virus in a public vehicle should take more consideration than a private vehicle. Surely this would be better for the health service. The police are still stopping 1 person in a vehicle to check where they have been.

I'll put it another way, why do you NEED to go out together?

Because next week I have to go to Alicante airport to return a car hire after an accident where my car was written off by another party. I will have to pay approximately 70 euros to get home by a taxi, when I will have a perfectly able bodied person and a replacement car. I don't need to pay 70 euros for this trip ! And to be honest I would feel much safer NOT getting into a strangers car where there is a greater risk of contracting the virus. HOPE THIS ANSWERS YOUR QUESTION. WE DON'T NEED TO GO OUT TOGETHER BUT I CANT SEE WHERE THE HARM WOULD BE IN THIS INSTANCE !!!

Oh and by the way 950 people lost their lives the other night. Hence I would feel much safer in a small box (ie a car) breathing the same air, with someone I KNOW doesn't have corona virus.

OK, sorry, my mistake, I didn't read back through the whole thread. Maybe you will be able to keep your hire car as a previous poster said that Goldcar had extended it for free. If you wait until the day before and contact the hire company they may do something similar for you.

I totally understand what you are saying, in the circumstances it seems the sensible thing to do with the least risk to everyone.
