Pacoboy - I noticed your location is Algorfa but I don't recognise the description of drunken Brits in Torrevieja that you referred to.

There are many Brits and Brit bars on the urbanisations and maybe people have one too many to drink but your comment gives the impression of drunken people creating havoc.

I would think that many of these will be middle-aged couples rather than yobs.

I have been there since 2002 and not experienced any of that at all in that time but I am in the middle of town.

That was probably from my comment and I agree with what you say totally and I certainly didn't mean to suggest mayhem was the outcome, just that this was the worst the lady was going to encounter re reports of violence in the Torrevieja area. Totally agree, high spirits, and I also said that Torrevieja doesn't seem to attract such tourists, unlike Benidorm.

Hi FlyingDuck81 - I was referring to Pacoboys post - not yours although I know you did comment about drunks.

"Generally safe but I have been beaten up and robbed 3 times and people say it could happen anywhere  (correct) .but it hasn't happened anywhere else and as somebody else pointed full now of drunken Brits.don't trust anyone"

Hi Judi 33,

While I do not live in Torreviega permanently, I have had a property here for the last 19 years, so I would visit three  to four  times per year. In that 19 years I have "never once" encountered a seriously  negative situation or incident in Torreviega. My confidence in the City is such, that My partner and I are making plans, sooner rather than later, to relocate there on a semi permanent basis. I disagree with the  comment regarding drinking by "named ethnic groups" by one subscriber, that has not been my experience, people come here to enjoy themselves, so what if they have a drink, but none of them have ever bothered me or mine.We are over next month, third time this year, with our grandchildren, first time for them, and we will have no problem keeping them entertained with the multitude of activities on hand in the City. One final observation, the very few incidents that I have witnessed with regard to the street vendors ,( lookey lookey) was from what I could see, very quickly sorted by the local police or the Guardia.

Torreviega is in my opinion a great place to live and have a vacation in.

Regards

Tom

Sorry if this is a sort of controversial post, but me and my partner are planning to move to the Torrevieja area as soon as possible.   However, having noticed that, due to Italy closing its borders, Spain, particularly the Valencia coast region, seems to be one of the places illegal migrant...

...s are now landing in, or aiming at, and have just seen in the news re Torrevieja that quite a lot of disturbance is being caused by what is described as 'Mafia Senegalese', ie violence, throwing things at the Spanish police, who actually drove away and didn't do a lot, aggression....etc.,   This is quite sad, because it looked very scary, and close to the tourist cafes etc.,  The thing is, a lot of Brits (especially pensioners) are now looking to move out of the UK (because of how things are changing so fast here) to calmer quieter safer countries, of which we all thought Spain is one of them.  So that bodes very well for property sales in Spain because more Brits will be aiming that way asap I would think.  So I wonder if any of you lucky people who are already living in such a lovely area, could let me know how the picture really is, as it looks a bit worrying from here.  Sorry again if this is a bit of a tricky subject.

Hi - just wondering how you got on over there? I'm looking to move in the next 18 months, so would love some feedback on this!

We go out for several winter months and have always felt and been safe. Even at night when there are not many people about. Just have to use your common sense.
