Dear readers,

I understood that in case of dying within a small amount of hours the craws are surrounding you.

Could you pleaase inform me about the way to limit the costs?

I would be looking for a very BASIC cremation! So urn, cremation, no cars ,no assemby hall,  no useless things.

My husband would organise a memory party in a nice place .

Hope you could give me some information.

Best Regards,

Ronald

Hi,

If you pop onto the link he has provided and on the top right tap for Englis, you'll see a Spanish flag, tap that.

Scroll down to the 1600€ service and tap on more details,  gives you all you want to know :)

ASV Group and Funerals Direct,  both are cheap with just the basics.

As I understand it the way things are here in Spain, the cost of the cremation will be the least of your problems.

The paperwork involved when someone dies is truly mind bending, another example of Spanish bureaucracy on steroids.

Hi Noel,

I’m afraid I am new to this type of transaction! I looked on the link you posted and saw the various offers. I have just seen that I would need to pay 50% of the chosen method and the rest as monthly payments.

Cofune would only cremate in Valencia or Torrent. If I need something more local to me how do I go about it?

Can I just call in a local crematorio and ask what services they offer?

https://www.grupoasvserviciosfunerarios.com/en/funeral-services.

Another link to look at.  As I understand it is important to have a plan as when the Guardia Civil turn up and you have nothing to show them they phone the funeral parlour of their choice. Usually the one that has offered them the most incentives and certainly not the cheapest or nearest.

Could you exlain this please. My question was about the costs of cremation. What OTHER costs are involved in your opinion?

If cremation costs are the least WHICH COSTS ARE THE MOST?

Ronald

Hi Janice,

Approaching your local crematorium would probably give you the most cost-effective option (Covid-19 has scuppered donations for the purposes of medical science).  For comparison, you could also ask GrupoASV for a quote:

https://www.grupoasvserviciosfunerarios.com/en

We have a plan with Avalon: Eu 4,300 for both of us, which includes for our demise in Spain and the UK.  It may seem expensive to some, but they handle all the administration at what is likely to be a distressing time for spouse and other relatives.

Kind regards,

Kim
