Mine trips out in colder mths. However in the summer very rarely.

Increasing you tariff will push up your mthly bills. Got to weigh up the inconvenience of it tripping out, or just think about when you use high KW appliances. Kettle, oven, hob, big screen tvs all use a lot of juice.

If it's only a minor inconvenience, I would say it may be best to stay as you are. In order to upgrade the potencia, it would be necessary to get an (authorised by Iberdrola) electrician to issue a 'boletin'. This is a document certifying that your electrical installation is up to current standards as dictated by the government regulations. Depending upon the age of your house, and the quality of the electrics, you might have to get a considerable amount of work done to upgrade the wiring, sockets, etc, before this document can be issued.

Might be best to wait until the tripping really gets on your nerves!

Our potencia is 5.75 kw and it has never tripped-out, summer or winter. We live here full time, not just for holidays.

Geoff.

Hi

I need some help regarding my electric bills, on the bills where there has been no usage of electric there is still a charge i realise there are standing charges which are usually around 8/9 euros, the bill can still be around 25 euro i have tried contacting iberdrola with no satisfaction, also ca...

...n anyone recommend the best tariff to be on we would be in Torrevieja about a week to ten days at a time any help would be greatly appreciated

Thanks

Barri

Hi, I would definitely check what tariff you are on, have just checked last bill of my mum's place who's also with Iberdrola and standing charges including taxes before any consomption are around 15€ so 25 seems a tad on the high side.

Can anyone confirm this - I'm sure I read somewhere last year on-line that all Electricity supplies would be upgraded to 5.5 kw per household - as many older properties only have 3.5 or less.  Any idea when this will be done?

I stupidly paid 65euros to Iberdrolla to try to upgrade my household supply as the system kept cutting out - especially in colder months when I

had TV, cooker, kettle and a heater on ...............plunged into darkness on many occasions! but to be perfectly honest I noticed no difference and thought I'd been taken for a mug so reverted back to the original tariff supply

If anyone has news on the upgrades please let me know a.s.a.p.

I've read on this Forum that I should perhaps have a UK Electrician rewire my Spanish home - I have a couple of sockets that spark occasionally and the system tends to plunge me into darkness - does anyone have a recommendation for me and how much does it cost?

You can only upgrade your contracted power supply if you have a boletín from a registered electrician. That's to ensure that your wiring is capable of handling the increase in power.

Dodgy sockets are easily changed for new ones. All it takes is to turn off the power while you do it and spend less than five minutes with a screwdriver.

The standing charges and taxes usually amount to in excess of 50% of the overall bill for normal usage.

When are the Off Peak periods, is this relevant on all Iberdrola packages?

On the night plan, the cheap rate is from 10.00 pm to midday in winter, and 11.00 pm to 1.00 pm when summer time applies.

On the eight hour plan, you choose the cheap rate period(s).

Thanks, I am unsure of which plan I am on. I shall have to check if I am being charged at a competitive rate?
