This morning went to well known supermarket and bought a product that we buy quite often and although we had seemed to think prices were on the up this really confirmed it. The item in question was a confectioned wedge of Danish blue cheese, previous price 1,05 E, today's price 1,20 E, a rise of nearly 15%. I wonder if anyone else has noticed such significant rises, caused by Brexit, Covid, Flu, Gas and Ukraine no doubt!

Cheers

Hi,

Yes I've noticed similar sort of rises in our local supermarket, Dialprix. Example...Tin of Heinz beans 2 weeks ago €0.88, then suddenly priced at €1.10. A massive hike. There are quite a few other items with similar price rises.

Heinz Beans are 0,79€ in Alcampo.

For all you baked bean lovers.

Hi Mrmike,

Yep, Salmon fillets in Consum were €19.00 per kilo last week - today, they were €23.00 per kilo.

Kind regards,

Kim

I wonder if there's a place (or a case for having) a resource available to see who's doing what at what price - I think we're going to go back to the 'old days' (if not already) where we bought different things in different shops. It can fair add up every time you do a shop if your paying too much for your staples.

So who's got the best prices, the biggest offers and who's got the info to let us know?

Shopping around is fine providing you don't have to drive, otherwise any saving on groceries is wiped out by the high cost of petrol and diesel.

In Mercadona their own brand detergent was €3.99 now €4.60, "in store" bread rolls that were 25c now 35c the list goes on.

It's so disheartening to think these Supermarkets are using any threat (pandemic, border taxes, etc) to deliberately take advantage & increase prices!

Shopping elsewhere is the only way to save money!  I'm a regular at Aldi in the UK & hope that Spanish outlets are similar in savings!.....despite cost of living increases

Inflation in Spain is currently 7.4% chances are given the current situation in Ukraine this will go higher due to increases in oil, gas and wheat prices coming down the line.
