Well put it this way, I am well on my way to becoming a vegetarian lol. Meat prices way up and diesel today I noticed 10p per litre...not a one off...that was 2 garages, asda and jet. Also ordered 500 litres of heating oil almost £90 more than last month at £392....most I have ever paid.

Count yourself lucky. As of Friday, the price for 500 litres of home heating oil in Ireland was €690. Only a year ago I paid €520 for 1,000 litres. Fingers crossed it’s a mild spring and warm summer!!!

This morning went to well known supermarket and bought a product that we buy quite often and although we had seemed to think prices were on the up this really confirmed it. The item in question was a confectioned wedge of Danish blue cheese, previous price 1,05 E, today's price 1,20 E, a rise of ...

...nearly 15%. I wonder if anyone else has noticed such significant rises, caused by Brexit, Covid, Flu, Gas and Ukraine no doubt!

Cheers

Hi

Ive have to comment on food prices, we were in Spain for 11 weeks August until November, and have a home there since 2004 ,I was so happy to get back to shop, I dont really know how anyone affords to shop  in Spain, the salads are more expensive and fruit and grown in Spain.and the meats I dont think very good quality, so no complaints of British prices from me

I use their apps or online sites.

Except that by, no doubt, using a car to do the rounds of the shops one uses petrol/diesel, also much dearer now, as well as polluting the atmosphere.

Probably six of one and half a dozen of the other....

Interesting comment,I’m sure that most grocery items are cheaper in Spain than the UK,obviously depending what you buy and where you buy it.One thing that is definitely cheaper is wine and beer.If you want to buy the same branded products as in the UK you will pay more.

With inflation allegedly running at 7+%, why is the pension increase stuck at 3.1% come April? Time for a rethink on when and how the prices are fixed?

Inflation is running at 15 to 20%. In the UK at least.

Usually, the UK Government increases the value of the State pension each tax year by either inflation (Consumer Price Index), average wage growth, or 2.5%, whichever is higher, known as the Triple Lock.  However, an artificial boost in wages, caused by the Covid pandemic, would have resulted in a 8% rise in the State pension in April 2022, had the government continued to follow this formula, so instead they decided to suspend the triple lock for the 2022-23 tax year, dropping the earnings related part, so that only a double-lock of inflation or 2.5%, will be applied.  For this year, that means the UK State pension will increase by 3.1%, but I don't know when the percentage amount is agreed, because the UK CPI to end January 2022 stood at 5.5%.

Kind regards,

Kim

Hi

Definitely the UK is cheaper, Wine I cant drink Spanish wine but there is The Food Shop that sells Tescos products and they are a lot dearer than Tesco  in the UK. they actually sold a wine that I like its New Zealand Marlborough  for €10 , so I was happy with the price and a wine that I like, but potatoes fruits salads are dearer in Spain,
