I know I said I would learn some Spanish during our 1st lockdown. I spent one evening doing that.

Now I’ve spent a whole week listening to 100 basic Spanish words and am pleased with myself, the hubby is doing the same so there’s a bit of competition now!

I know the pronunciations won’t be perfect but it’s a good start! Is there anyone else doing the same??

Hi Gerry

Well done! There are various apps that, alongside online translation, have the ability to “speak” the word. I use this. I’ve attached a photo of the “button” to press to hear it spoken

Thanks, I use that app at the moment, it’s super easy especially with the ability to hear the correct pronunciation!

Hi Gerry,

Good for you!  I'd highly recommend a series of 6 YouTube videos by Jane Cronin, a former Spanish teacher of mine, which teach you the Spanish alphabet and pronunciation:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lfchaD7ZEyY

Once you've understood these, you'll never need to "hear" the correct pronunciation again, because you'll know instinctively how every word should be pronounced (and don't be put off by the fact that Jane is English - she was married to a Spaniard for 30 years and has lived in Spain for 45 years).

Kind regards,

Kim

Have a look at Duolingo online. It's free.
