Hi Shelly,

I’m sure he’s right about having to take out medical insurance. As an Irish citizen I think you will be covered by the E111. However you have been given very good advice regarding the work situation. I think the first thing you need to do is start learning the language prior to coming over. There are good apps available like Duolingo which will help with the basics.  Best of luck perusing your dream move !

The E111 went out of circulation many years ago.   It was replaced by the EHIC card.

So can the EHIC card be used as insurance as we are still in the EU.

Thanks so much for your reply I'm so grateful to this man for telling me this information as I had been out for 2 full days with agents and there was no mention of anything. I'm currently using the duolingo app it's really good and I'm learni g a lot from it over the last couple of months.

Please God some day I will achieve my dream.

Kind regards

Shelly

The EHIC is for emergency treatment only, and it only protects against the need for that.

If you intend to move here then you will need one year's private health insurance, covering all eventualities, and pre-paid for one year.

You also need to meet the requirements on proving proof of sufficient finances.

I suggest you read some of the information already on this forum, which would make the requirements clear. For example:

It's not the end of the world I suppose it's such a pity though. I wish you all the very best for when you do finally move.

Cheers Shelly

Thanks Kim everything looks so easy when you watch a place in the Sun. I even went to the exhibition 2 weeks before I went out to torrevieja and not a mention of any of this stuff. So disappoing but yes I suppose I am lucky I hadn't sold up in Ireland and went out.

There is ways.

We spend 6 months in Spain and 6 months here in Ireland, we definitely wouldn’t want Spain in the Summer months as just not comfortable for us.

Love the spring/Summer in Ireland and wouldn’t want to be anywhere else and then spend winter in the sun. It’s just getting the work/life balance right, we were fortunate to retire before we were 50 and enabled us to avail of the lifestyle.

Take time and re-evaluate things and you never know what you can do. May not be full time but a different way of doing it.
