My husband is having possibly ten or,more call per day?

The odd time he answers,it in Spanish, they they cut us off.

He has stopped answering the calls now.

It is very annoying, anyone had the same please.

The calls are from Sevilla.

Cold calling is now illegal, which has reduced this considerably, but some companies are ignoring the illegality.

All you can effectively do is block the number(s) and report them as spam.

I've been getting 3-4 calls a day for about the last 10 years in the UK!

My usual reponse when they invariably speak to me with an Asian accent asking if they can speak to (my name) is just "No" and I hang up.

It never fails to make people around me laugh

But now, I'm just as much inclined to decline the call if I don't know the number. If it's important, they'll leave a message.

And as much as it's illegal, I don't think they can do anything about it, as the numbers are spoofed and not real.

When you hang up the phone go to recent calls, and open that number, click the 3 dots (depending on phone they could be top or bottom of the screen) and you should have the option to block that number and also report it as spam (reporting it will mean that phone companies will blacklist it which means that the number will be useless and screened out by spam folders)

Doesn't work. They have systems that dial a slightly different number every time, so even if you block the number, you'll still get calls cos the number is different. I have no idea why they keep calling. Is it to check that it's a valid number maybe? It doesn't seem to make any sense, but both me and my hubby get these calls for 3 or for days continuously then they stop for a few days and start again. Any body have any ideas?

What are they trying to sell to you?

For me, it's healthcare or debt assistance mostly.

You'll be in your 60's at least and have looked at health insurance or pensions or similar.  You'll be surprised who's passing your details around.

The other one is, they just want your info. A regular one is "what make is your washing machine?"

Totally innocent, until a few days later, you get a call asking about your washing M/C and how you should buy insurance. I've even had them say that I've already asked for a quote.

It's disgusting.

They know all about you and the hope is that you're a minted, senile, victim.

It's all about the money, no more, no less.

My strong advice is to immediately decline the call or just string them along a while, all in the knowledge that you can't believe a word of what they're saying.

You'll either be fleeced or outright robbed.

Badger. They never speak. Nothing. That's why I wonder whether they're trying to check if it's  a valid number.

Very probably so, but there's another possible explanation. These set ups are run by computer and they might dial 10 numbers at the same time. Which one gets chosen, who knows?

As I said, just hit the red button and decline the call if you don't know the number. If it's important, they'll find another way, as in text or whatever.

...

I rarely get any nusiance calls but my wife was getting many, not sure why she got them and I did'nt. She stopped answering calls that did not give a caller id or was not in her contacts list. Anyone who has a genuine reason to get in touch will leave a voicemail. Since she has done this the number of these calls has dropped significantly. So I would say your husband not answering the calls is the best option.

We only have mobiles, no landline.

Rgds,

Aitch.
