Spain is open for some countries, there are buyers from mainland Europe travelling to buy now. I personally would never recommend buying without seeing a property for yourself. It isn't just the property itself but the immediate surrounds, the wider community, the outlook and orientation that all...

... matter.

Look online and start to research areas. Decide on styles you like, but remember that you can often adapt a property to your taste but you can't change where it  is located. So, location first - decide what will matter to you in terms of what is around. Think long-term too, ie what will you need in 10 years time, not just now, what if you have to stop driving, health care, other amenities.

Set your budget and be realistic about the price of property in your preferred location. Allow enough for the purchase costs and taxes.

When you can travel there will be similar properties to view - new properties will replace the sold ones.

Finding your property should be an enjoyable process, don't let over zealous salesman spoil that enjoyment!

Thanks for your  input   and common sense  approach,  I  have  taken  your views  on  board,  Yes virtually  viewing  only show you the property  not as you stated  The  surrounding areas,  plus area should  be visited  in  evening time  as well

Thanks again for  views

Hi, our bank is aware that we are living inSpain, we just gave them the Spanish address before we left. We are AIB.  There should not be a problem. Curracloe is beautiful . At one time we had a holiday home near Ramsgrange, Wexford. What part of Spain are you thinking of moving to ? 😎😎 Marie

Hi Sligogent,

I don't know about Ireland, but for UK citizens there's no problem having a UK bank account with a Spanish address.  You're allowed to retain an existing account, you just can't open a new one on the UK once you've left, so best to keep the account you already have - or open an online bank account, such as Wise (formerly Transferwise) for cheap currency transfers.

Kind regards,

Kim

Those 3 areas are good choices. We are thinking of getting residency, we had a lot of queries which we needed accurate information on, which we now have. So I guess we will go ahead with it. Be very careful what estate agents you use, they can vary greatly in price. Some good deals to be had at the moment, so you should be able to get a nice house for yourself. 🙂

We're in Leinster also further up than yourself. We're going September all going well. Costa Blanca been holidaying for long periods over years in Torre La Mata. We're renting first so we know exactly where we want to live. Been planning for a long time now

Hi, I own an estate agency covering Costa Blanca and Murcia and I would not advise you to buy unseen, why would you??  I wouldn't and I wouldn't expect anyone to do something I wouldn't do myself :-)  Having said that, unfortunately due to the situation we've all found ourselves in over the past year or so lots of people are doing, but its all down to personal preference.

Good luck with your search and if you'd like any help, let me know.
