Hi, both punta prima and the little beach by the cautious have a distinct lack of sand, and are really rocky. Does the council bring in sand, now the summer is on its way?

I'm guessing there will still be a lack of beach bars around the punta Prima area. With so many new builds and increased foot traffic you would think someone would question where they are going to spend their money! I thought spain needed tourism and would look at what tourists want.....but I guess it is spain

It's become very apparent that Orihuela Costa is fast becoming a wasteland having had no money spent on it for years. In the 7 years we have lived here we have noticed how neglected everywhere looks and feels.

Block after block of apartments are being built with no infrastructure in place in the form of good roads, medical centres, schools.

Anyone who lives in Orihuela costa knows we provide the council with 50-55% of its income but has less than 10% spent on it and now that lack of spending is coming home to roost, but the council prefer to spend the money on pet projects in Orihuela City.

Oh that’s disappointing. Tourists needs need to be met or they will stop coming, as will their money.

Hopefully things will change

Tourists visit Spain for reasons, other than a beach.

Hi Dorchy

Re the two beaches - they are usually repaired about this time of year. The small one next to the Nautilus comes under Torrevieja council, the other one is Orihuela Costa, so I suppose they might be repaired at different times.

The three beach bars were closed down by Torrevieja council, upsetting an awful lot of local residents (particularly dog walkers) - most of whom lived in Orihuela Costa. It also meant the end of live music on the beach. But never mind, we now have lovely high-rise tower blocks instead of bars, toilets and entertainment... Oh well!

Cheers

Steve

Most of the people using those beach bars were resident, like me.

Does make you wonder where the influx of tourists will go. Councils just have no idea or interest on giving people wot they want…. Jobs, money, entertainment….
