Hi All,

Newbie Alert!

I’ve bought a property in El Chaparral with a view to moving permanently within two years. Being a keen sea angler in the UK, I intend to fish in Spain.

I have spent hours on the internet searching through websites and forums for information regarding fishing licences.

What I have learnt is the following:- licenses fall into four categories – sea shore, sea boat, rivers/lakes & underwater. Different regions have different rules, some regions require a licence, some not. Insurance may be required. Some areas even insist on an exam to prove competency, unless a person has held a fishing licence in another country. Some say local tackle shops can sort out a licence, others say banks issue them and town halls or office of agriculture & fisheries are another option.

So, my question is: –

Do I need a licence to fish in the sea from the beach/rocks in Torrevieja, Alicante?

If so, I would like to hear from anyone who has purchased a licence recently for this purpose, where it was acquired, cost and if insurance was required?

Thanks in advance

Phil

All the official info including prices that you need is here....

http://www.gva.es/es/inicio/procedimientos?id_proc=647

So yes you need a license, no you wont need insurance. Costs will be what is mentioned on that site if you go to the office itself but it will be more if you get a third party to grab one for you.

Some tackle shops will definitely organise one for you, I'm not familiar with ones in your area(nor mine to be honest) but I see Torre Pesca mentioned often so maybe ask there and take your passport or NIE with you just in case.

There are various online place that will do it for you too if you don't want to faff about making appointments and such but they will cost more.

46 euros apply online takes 10 to 20 days to process. It’s for one year but if over 60 you don’t need to renew it.

I purchased a sea fishing licence from Torrepesca, Calle Guadamar, Torrevieja. €35 for five years. Young woman in the shop speaks excellent English and I had the licence within a week.
