I've got my Car going in for it's ITV this coming week.

My headlights ( one in particular ) is cloudy.

I know there are companies that clean them  , for €25 / €30.>

Are there any household cleaners, that will do the job .

I read that toothpaste can work ?

Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

You've mentioned toothpaste, if you Google it, there are other solutions mentioned: baking soda & vinegar mix & also auto-shops sell different pastes. Good luck. V

The ITV Station has never mentioned the cloudy headlight covers to use

We still wanted to have them look nice,so we took the car into Citroen,to be honest though they didn't really do a great job,and now they are cloudy again.

Both my headlights look a bit cloudy but no problem with my ITV at San Javier earlier this month. I did give them a clean with some CiF cream cleaner the week before which brightened them up a bit.

Rgds,

Aitch.

Bang it in for the mot.

I took mine to San Javier last week and it passed, even though the headlights have all the protective coating burnt off, the top third apart.

And then, if it's desfavorable, look into replacing them it or them.

My mechanic says if you polish them it will only last a year or so.

He told me San Javier is much better than Torre, too, because you can usually just walk in without an appointment. And it's cheaper, plus the drive gives your car a chance to warm up properly (emissions).
