Hello,

My Husband is being relocated for 1 - 2 years by his employer which he doesn't have a problem with but would mean we cannot visit our apartment as often as we do now. Basically just the normal odd week and maybe 2 weeks summer over the year. What we are wondering is whether we should sell the apartment or rent it out .

Does anyone have any advice or experiences they could share about Estate Agents, Management companies or private letting, long or short term, seasonal. What costs are involved, how much should we charge for property. 1 Bed penthouse but only on second floor.

Any info would be appreciated. We only have Building and Contents insurance as a holiday home at present, so I'm a little worried about damages, thefts, any major problems.

Regards

Thank you, very helpful, what would you class as short term?  a week , 2 weeks, a month, a couple of months. Reason I ask is because depending on length we need someone to look after/clean the property ect...

Hi

If you contact the insurance company they can alter the use of the home to rented or should be able to.

I know Liberty Seguros have this option, then make sure you have civil liability cover on the insurance, most come as standard but check. Then should someone else injure themselves you’ve the liability cover in place.

Then you are covered.

Also see if you’ve the option for accidental damage? Then your covered for anyone who accidentally breaks something.

Compass in Punta Prima are a legal company that take on rentals for people long and short term.

Sorry don’t have a number but ask for Zoe.
