Skip hire
We are looking to remove an internal wall (not weight bearing) and wondered if someone could advise us what the procedure is to hire a skip. It would need to be kept on the road. Thanks gill

I have just had a non-weight bearing wall pulled down and all was taken away in jumbo size buckets by the builders. No skip was required. I suppose this will depend very much on the builder you hire and the size of the wall.

Make sure you have a licence to remove the wall before you start if the townhall see the skip you may get a visit from the police local who will ask to see you works licence.

Thanks for this, we were thinking of doing it ourselves but it maybe easier to let a builder do it

No, I used a builder and they had the jumbo buckets for this purpose. The buckets go into the back of their van and dumped on a site purposed for dumping.

If you do use a skip then, as well as planning permission for the alteration, you will also need permission to have the skip on a public road.

I think it will be beneficial to use a builder, it will be less hassle. Thanks
