Hi Everyone,

I'm about to come to Torrevieja for a three week holiday - but alongside we are thinking of buying a house as a holiday home for ten years, then moving out here permanently. Looking to spend about 200k. Over the next 10 years I would not spend a consecutive 90 days here but travel back - I have dual EU/UK nationality. I am self employed.

I have been learning Spanish for 9 months and am taking this seriously. I would like to live somewhere within an hour of Alicante airport, to make it easy to just pop over, with good internet service and a pool, and a not particularly British area

Its all very vague I know but does anyone have any tips or thoughts for me.

Hi,

If you want real spain then just go 15/30 mins inland in most places along the coast!

You get a lot more for your buck and you will be able to practice your Spainish on the locals!

We live in a large village and that has an ex pat community....which is great and helpful a lot of the times but we prefer the Spainish way of life personally and would much rather go into a Spainish bar then an Irish or British one any day of the week!

Look around Almordai,Catral, Dolores areas as all have expats but all have real Spainish living and many bargains to be had compared to the coast! And all about 15/20 mins from beaches and the same to mountains the other way!

About 20/30 mins from airport, a lot less busy Elche city Centre for all your big shops and Alicante for culture and bigger city experience etc as well ! Good luck hunting and enjoy your hols!

Hi It all depends what you want inland or beach. We live in a place called Villena, 40mins from Alicante. We can get to Santa Pola in 30mins. Inland prices are very good atm, get a lot for your money. I live on the Campo, but the fairly large town is only 6/8 mins drive away. If you put “property for sale Villena Spain” in google search, plenty come up in your very generous price range. Good luck 😎
