Can anyone give me any info regarding the TIE?

All my neighbours are trying to obtain theirs, and I get mixed messages?

Didn't think it was necessary yet anyway!

Gracias everyone.

What information do you want to know?

Do you have your green residence card?

That's correct Robbie. If you have your green residency card then you are not obliged (yet) to exchange it for the TIE.

IMHO I do believe that within the next few years the Spanish government will expect and encourage all legal residents to exchange their green card for a TIE.

Most people are doing it for a few reasons

It’s not compulsory to change at the moment, but probably will be soon and  when it does become compulsory you’ll probably be given very little notice  resulting in horrendous queues.

It only costs 12€ to change over and a couple of trips into Alicante

As it’s a photo ID card, it means you don’t have to carry your passport around with you anymore.

Probably a good idea to sort it sooner rather than later.

Gracias Steve.

It's easy to do as it's just an exchange, no income or healthcare to prove. It's more or less certain that eventually everyone will be required to change to the TIE.

Sorry you’ve missed the boat for Torrevieja, they did start processing applications there a little while ago (along with Elche, Benidorm & Denia). But that was when demand was really high. Alicante are now able to cope with the demand again so all the other offices has stopped accepting applications

It is possible for a next day appointment
