Are wood burning stoves going to be banned in Torrevieja, I'm looking to buy one or a pellet one and do you need to get it fitted or can this be done by myself, there's a fireplace in the house, and it's not blocked and doesn't seem to be any problems with it, any help will be gratefully accepted

My advice would be to have this done professionally, and get the chimney swept beforehand.

I am not aware of any imminent plans to ban wood burning stoves, I am sure there will be someone on this forum who will be aware if this is the case.

I agree with the above, have it professionally installed to avoid poisoning / killing  yourself.

Had a wood burner in Spain and it was brilliant . Heated the house up in no time and as sill smoldering in the morning so just needed a few more logs putting on to fire up again. I would though look into the pellet burner as the log ones might soon be banned.

If wood burners are going to be banned, which I think is unlikely, my suggested route would be to get a pellet burner. Pellets are a cheap and efficient way to heat.  Like any wood burner you still need to ash out every day.

They are easy enough to install and most have a relatively small flue so bits are easily handled and fit together to form an airtight seal.

The easiest flue installation is to rise up from the heater, turn 90deg and go through the outside wall with a small terminal on the outside.

I have never seen one that uses an existing chimney but I don't see why that can't be done. You will need a proper terminal for the top that also caps off the existing flue.  The manual will tell you the maximum flue length and most likely illustrate some flue options.

You could go on the internet and download a manual just for ideas.

We had a pellet burner installed by Ambience in Quesada, excellent service, and they also service them, they sell wood burners and solar water systems too.

After having a wood burner in  previous houses, I much prefer the cleaner pellet burner, they have temperature control, timer and minimal cleaning out of tiny amount of ash.
