I can honestly say that my arthritis is much less severe than when I lived in North Yorkshire. I'd guess that it's due to much lower humidity and higher temperatures. I live in the Costa Blanca south, which seems to have its own micro-climate, and it's certainly been beneficial to me.

Hi Jim is spot on with this don't expect miracles but it is an excellent area and that is one of the reasons it has been classed as one of  the healthiest area in Europe by the world health organization.

I hate to disagree, but both my mother and grandmother (now deceased) Suffer/ed very badly with arthritis, our family has been here for almost 60 years. The climate has made no tangible difference to their condition, my mother is now in her 90s and suffers badly.

I think it’s the luck of the draw.

Out of interest, where does your mother live? If it's the Vega Baja area, I'm surprised the're wasn't an improvement.

Incidentally, I didn't state that I suffer from osteo-arthritis, not rheumatoid.

Hi when we go back to the UK we both are notably stiffer if you move between the country's it is then when you can tell the difference, other than that you also have the fact that most people feel better waking up to blue sky and sun which is vastly more present here rather than cold wet grey and miserable!  People generally have a much better life here and you can spend far more time in the fresh air! don't get me wrong you will still get people that moan! but some are just not happy unless they are complaining  LOL

I have just moved from the South of England to Pego and have seen a considerable difference in my arthritis. I have quite severe psoriatic arthritis (similar to rheumatoid arthritis) and mild osteoarthritis. Within a couple of weeks of arriving the pain in my hands and my hips was markedly better, and has remained so. I shall be interested to see what happens once the weather gets (relatively!) colder here but my hopes are high!
