Hi  I am due to have my Booster injection tomorrow and have been offered the flu injection too, this would be my first time getting the flu injection.  Everyone I have spoke to have had serious side effects when they have had both at the same time and have been very ill.  Can anyone confirm if they have suffered same.  Thanks   Gillian

I had both at the same time a few weeks ago and suffered no ill effects. Ditto my partner.

I had my first-ever flu jab, along with covid booster, and had my worst flu for ten years! I will avoid flu jabs in future.

Hi,

The first flu shot is always the worst but the side affects do fade over the years.

I had both, one in each arm, and only effect was two tender  injection sites.
Unfortunately there’s no way of telling if you already have an influenza virus in your system at time of injection, meaning you might have a dose of the flu afterwards, but this would be tempered by the vaccine.
The way the vaccine is prepared means it’s impossible to have the flu as a result.

To be honest, I am suspicious. I believe my 3-week flu was caused by the flu jab. Best avoided.

The short answer is everyone will have a different reaction to any vaccine.

It's what we feel is right for each of us.

This post that was quoted has been deleted.

I am glad for you both. I am sure your positive experience is far more common.

Hi Gilly,

I hope you weren't put off having the 'flu vaccine.  My husband and I had it for the first time ever this year, and the only ill-effects we each had was a sore arm.  The vaccine given by injection contains the "killed" virus, so it can't cause 'flu, but it is designed to provoke a reaction from your immune system, so ironically a sore arm means the vaccine's doing what it's supposed to do.  Friends of ours had their 'flu vaccine at the same time as their Covid jabs, one in each arm, and they were both fine although, with two sore arms, they had to sleep on their backs for a couple of nights!

Kind regards,

Kim
