Hi folks, am just looking for help with this situation. My wife is 63 and I believe she is starting to repeat the same questions to me (over & over) and she doesn't know she is doing it & I am obviously concerned, especially as her family history is / was similar (dementia). We have private medical insurance and I am awaiting a result on our visa appeal (complicated). we have been here almost 2 years on an NLV, could someone suggest what would be the way forward, as despite sitting down and talking with her today, she will have forgotten most of our conversation by later today. I think this is a case for expert advice. Thank you.

Hi,

So very sorry to read about your situation as it must be heartbreaking to see your wife in that condition. Although neither of us have shown any signs It is something that my wife and I have spoken about as we are here without any family support.

However, on the down side of NLV application I believe that renewal will depend upon having a clean bill of health for both of you. It might be worth exploring the options for returning to the UK where you might get family support at this time.

I wish you both well....

Hi,

Having gone through this with my stepmum having dementia and now my mum having it I can only imagine the heartbreak that you're going through with your partner.

I don't know if it's any help but for advice maybe try contacting Age Concern or Help at Home and maybe they can offer support for how to deal with your situation.

Really sorry to hear of your predicament, you could also contact AFA Torrevieja for advice about Alzheimers and other dementias. They can help in English. Tel contact 966 702 500. They also have a webpage.

Iam sorry to read of your wife's health issues. I would use my private medical insurance to get the ball rolling. I use IMED hospitals and in my opinion are excellent. Obviously any prescriptions issued will have to be met in full.  Good luck!
